                    Brief description
A black and white photograph showing the Squander bug Campaign of June 1943. This propaganda character was used to encourage people to save their money for war effort contributions during the Second World War. This particular photograph shows the squander bug being carted from Station Road to Station Place. Midland Bank can be seen in the background along with a banner saying "Victory is in the air." The procession would have probably continued down Eastcheap as it ended with a trial and the 'beheading' of the Squander Bug held in the Arena Square.
